GRAB A CUPPA’ TEA THIS IS A LONG BLOG. MEGA RAMBLE... ARE YOU SITTING COMFORTABLY? THEN I’LL BEGIN.
Tuesday 18th: Shoot Day: Most of you may know, but for those that do not, I am an aspiring wannabe model. I do amateur stuff, and help out talented friends with use of my face and accidental ability to wear clothes a bit o’ right I suppose. As a model, the term ‘I’ll do’ would probably be my tag line. Despite varied constant compliments on my ‘work’ as my desired profession, it doesn’t seem to have taken off for me just yet. I feel I’m running out of time and it becomes one of those subjects labelled in my conciseness as ‘something started but yet again never finished’.
Haha I’m watching to football as I type and some foreign player is called Gargou (Gar-Goo) made me laugh anyway...
So where was I? Oh yeah,  putting myself down about modelling but still accidentally clawing it back by being my natural, big headed self. Basically I don’t think I am; a.) good enough, b.) good looking enough, and c.) have enough ‘looks’. i.e I can only do the raw, rough rugged and ready look. But some people say I’m alright at it so there is hope.
I had a shoot on Tuesday. To help out a young talented group of passionate fashion media and promotion girls – one of whom is one my best friend’s girlfriend. Sometimes it’s who you know, not what you know. This is why I’ve made and surrounded myself with lots of different lovely people. I arrived at 10am (ish) and the clothes that I brought with me, which were required, were steamed of all creases – I recommend getting a steamer now, my eyes have been opened to the wonder, my shirt looked better than an iron had ever made it look.  It was like a naughty lil’ treat for my clothes, and they loved it! The outfits were arranged and tried on, then taken back off and hung up ready for the shoot. The girls had some luck with female models by getting two professional models that are signed to a local agency, with no charges, just boosting their portfolio. Score for them. They were due to arrive after me and at separate times as, understandingly, they had other commitments first. The girls, Sammi and Gabriella, turned up and went through the same process I had done, with the addition of make-up.
The weather was awful on Tuesday. The location was some local woods. When I mean awful I mean; confused weather, to and fro-ing between mild to adverse conditions, one minute it’s fine, next it’s lashing down with rain. The wind wasn’t helping; a cold breeze rode upon the constant wind that was slicing through air. Absolutely horrible conditions. “Laverly day for it?” But hi-ho you have to put up with the weather, the location, the waiting around till you’re needed; you have to put up with anything as a professional model anyway. I heard someone say that it’s not all that glamorous. That being a professional is a stressful job, not all it’s cranked up to be, even so I love it, I love the rush of it, I love the attention all on me, I love seeing the end product ( and that’s the big headed part right there).
The overall day was fun. I enjoyed it although I was out in the weather I have previously described from 12ish until 5pm. For the first part of the shoot I wasn’t needed so I made myself useful and tried helping where and when I could, this part was set in the middle of a meadow, it was very open and very cold and the model Sammi was very good and very professional throughout, the colours of the pictures taken were great and she really made it good. Jenni Baker was the photographer, she is a good rising talent, a dear friend and I’ve really wanted to ‘work’ with her for a while. The day rolled on, photos after photos were taken, outfits after outfits were exchanged, make-up was removed after each scene and new ‘slap’ applied.
Finally it was my turn to do some work. To strut my stuff. The first scene I was in I had to be a stalker, I was to stalk Gabriella through the woods. This meant I was to be the background of the shot, creeping through the woods, or out of focus starring at Gabi with the shot taken from over my shoulder... I haven’t seen the pictures but I hope you can tell that it is me in them! Gabi has been modelling for years, and she photographs so so well, so there is no doubt she has taken all the glory in those shots. The second scene was titled the ‘Affair’. It is a strong, sexy, seductive, sensibly smart scene.  So outfit change – which wasn’t fun in the cold but the girls had been doing it all day, so I manned up and didn’t even think about complaining how cold it was. Plus, when I had to change my trousers there was a satisfying refreshing breeze through my nether-regions. So shirted, trousered, shoed and laced up we headed to the next scene’s location.
NOW, it is weird when you’re on a shoot and you have to model with a complete stranger  you met that day, also that same stranger has been doing this as a job for seven years plus. It is even more weird when ‘acting’ out an affair and pretending to be a couple. This gets especially more weird when you actually have a delightful girlfriend. This sort of shoot requires you and that stranger to be literally millimetres apart. There is a prominent feeling of awkwardness that an amateur like me feels. There is a feeling of guilt, even though you are just trying to make nice pictures and have no feelings for this stranger, her experience and professionalism shown, I assume that Gabriella did not get these feelings. I tried to dismiss these feelings and carry on as best I can and I hope/ feel we conveyed the meaning behind the scene. My favourite part of this shoot was when Gabirella was lying down on a bench and unsuspecting as a dog wandered up to her and licked her face which set me off into a giggle fit!
Finished by 5pm, head home for some Chicken (the best ever flavour) soup and a cup of strong tea, long warm soak in the bath, then get ready for Joe Steel’s party.
Tuesday 18t: Joe Steel &co.’s Party: Daisy picked me up and whisked me back to her gaff for dinner. Gnocchi and Pesto, beautiful and healthy, I’m starting to eat better now. Daisy lives in Moldgreen, ironically that’s where the lads live, and even more ironically that is where the party is wow! Now it is a terrace house which means it is a high and not very wide, it is connected by other houses either side and, are generally in long rows.  This means there are a lot of neighbours most of which are not students. What could possibly happen in this environment, at a student house party in Moldgreen? Two angry men trespassed into the property, obvious typical neighbours. Chavvy, big ‘hench’ neighbours. The kind of people who shouldn’t exist in life, apart from in prisons. The kind of people that by some sort of miracle had previously managed to confuse the justice system and evade their true life in jail. The first threatened to “kill the person that fucking owns this house” and the second left a fist shaped hole in the hallway wall. On a lighter note the Drum and Bassment was a complete success, and the DJing was on top form, dirty filthy dub supplied by DJ Rocko and DJ Oz. Overall the party was a success my highlight was dancing like a gay boyband with Joe Steel.
Wednesday 19th: Spontaneous Evening: remember that meaning from earlier? Well this is where it becomes useful. After picking up Daisy from her Nandos date with Suzie and returning to hers to pick up my stuff from the night before, a spontaneous night to Toyko appeared on the agenda. So from my planned quiet night in I was soon on a couple’s night to the aforementioned club.
Been a while since I’ve been there and I didn’t really enjoy it much. Coulda done with my skanking partner Roskell on the top floor, but I was on a couples night anyway. It was funnier when me and Simon Porter were getting up to and creating mischief, in the house we went to and in tesco pre-toyko.
Thursday 20th: Today I’ve slept. I’ve been catching up on the sleep I’ve been dismissing from my body. I have been Shit with uni this week. I need to work harder these days. Tomorrow’s my day off. Have no doubt I’m going in, early. I’m gonna have an early night, if I can sleep. And spend all day working.
Hope you enjoyed the reading tonight and you washed down with a beverage, wrapped up in bed... you’re allowed to sleep now... night followers! M’awwww
